Reliable power systems are essential for reliable long distance communications. The intricacies of the technology involved in long distance telephone service simply demand steady, uninterrupted power. To ensure reliable power at AT&T's Magnolia Ave. Facility in Orlando, a complete renovation of the power network was required. The building itself was constructed in the 1920's and has undergone many additions and modifications over its seventy year lifespan. This has become one of AT&T's Platinum Facilities and as such is a key link in the companies global communications network. Extensive renovations, therefore, were easily justified.
Olson Electric Company was selected as a key member of the construction team for this challenging project. The task was especially sensitive as all electrical modifications had to be made without interruption of the network communications. The entire electrical system was upgraded from 208 to 480 volts. Emergency systems were completely overhauled and UPS systems were upgraded. New chillers, pumps, air handlers and VFDs were installed, all with no interruption of power.
The successful completion of this project stands as a model partnership among client, contractors and designers.
