Clean and efficient power is a requirement for industrial growth on Michigan's environmentally sensitive Northwest shore. Destec Energy of Houston, Texas, and Michigan Power Corporation combined forces to build this 200MW cogeneration plant in Luddington, Michigan. This natural gas fired plant required sophisticated fire protection systems for protection of the environment, the plant and personnel.

Olson Electric Co.'s Industrial Division and the Milton J. Wood Fire Protection Company of Jacksonville, Florida, combined forces to provide the fire protection systems. The systems included conventional water deluge, FM200, combustible gas detection, cable tray thermal protection, and conventional fire alarm and detection systems.

Olson Electric Company provided the on-site manpower and management for the installation of the alarm and detection systems. State-of-the-art addressable devices were utilized to afford the greatest ease of installation and to minimize conduit runs.
